Working amongst Ethnic Minorities in the UK and France.

Kevin and Susan Matthews both worked in Great Barford, Beds and Kevin also lived in Eynesbury for a time, although he then considered himself an atheist with no interest in the Gospel.  It was while working in Great Barford that Susan was converted in July 1979.  A colleague invited her to a tent meeting at which an evangelist, Dick Saunders, spoke.  For the first time she understood that she was not right with God and that Jesus Christ had come to die on the cross for her wrong.  ethnic-ukFollowing her conversion, Kevin was very sarcastic and mocking but was himself converted in November 1979 through the work of Bedford Young Life, an interchurch youth group.  In 1990 they left their employment to go to work in France as evangelists alongside churches there.

Their particular burden from the beginning was to work amongst ethnic minorities who come to Europe from many different countries.  These groups are often struggling to be accepted in the host culture and are also from countries where they have had little opportunity to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Kevin and Susan have come to appreciate the many different cultures they come up against and many of their closest friends are from these groups.  They have seen the blessing of churches becoming increasingly international and the joy of seeing the Biblical picture, of people from different nations together worshipping Jesus Christ, becoming a reality.

In 2002 Kevin and Susan Matthews returned from France to work in the North West of England.  They work as members of the missionary society UFM Worldwide.  They concentrate on preaching the Gospel to ethnic minorities through the many available opportunities and are involved in ministering to these groups through both personal and group Bible studies.  They also organise weeks of training and evangelism both in the UK and France.
